7-Night Bahamas Abaco Island Yacht Charter Itinerary

7-Night Bahamas Abaco Island Yacht Charter Itinerary

The Abaco Islands form a 120-mile-long island chain often referred to as the 'mini Bahamas.' Great Abaco Island and Little Abaco act as the "mainland," separated from the Atlantic by a string of barrier islands, with the tranquil, shallow Sea of Abaco serving as the water body between them—a serene haven for boaters and sailors.

Day 1: Marsh Harbor

Upon arrival at Marsh Harbor airport, take a brief ten-minute taxi ride to Marsh Harbor. Embark on your boat, explore local establishments like the Jib Room, Snappas, and the Conch Inn. Spend the night in the harbor on your boat, preparing for a sail the next morning.

Day 2: Man O War Cay

After breakfast onboard, embark on a 45-minute sail to Man O War Cay. Known for its boat construction heritage, this paradise has a museum dedicated to the island's history of sloop and dinghy construction. Enjoy provisions, excellent marina facilities, and the Dock and Dine restaurant, featuring the freshest catch of the day.

Day 3: Head south to Great Guana Cay

Enjoy breakfast on board before sailing south to Great Guana Cay. Stop for lunch at Fowl Cay for snorkeling in the marine park. Head to Great Guana Cay before sunset, explore the island by golf cart, and indulge in drinks at Grabbers bar. Experience Nippers and Spinnaker restaurant for a true Bahamian culinary adventure.

Day 4: Green Turtle Cay, the swimming pigs at Noname Island, and New Plymouth

Head north to New Plymouth, a charming village on Green Turtle Cay. Visit Noname Cay to see the Abaco swimming pigs. Explore New Plymouth's Bahamian charms, including narrow streets, white buildings, and two main harbors. Don't miss Miss Emily's Blue Bee Bar and other dining spots like the Green Turtle Club, Bluff House, and Pineapples.

Day 5: Treasure Cay

Unless you're on a 10-day charter exploring the northern islands, head back south to Treasure Cay. Enjoy breathtaking white sand beaches and partake in various watersports. Stroll along the National Geographic-recognized beaches before departing the next morning for the final stop, Hope Town.

Day 6: Hope Town and Elbow Cay

Depart for Hope Town, explore the island by golf cart, and savor beautiful beaches, Tahiti beach's surf break, and delightful dining spots. Lunch overlooking the iconic lighthouse is a must. Take the dinghy to Elbow Cay for exploration or enjoy events like the full moon party at Cracker P's.

Day 7: The final day in Little Harbour

Little Harbour offers white sandy beaches, inspiring the late bronze sculptor Randolph Johnston. Explore caves, art galleries, and Pete's Pub, continuing the island's artistic legacy. Enjoy the relaxed ambiance of Little Harbour, concluding your Abaco adventure.

Typical Sailing Conditions in The Abaco

The best time to visit the Abaco is between December and July, with warm weather and consistent trade winds ideal for sailing. Line-of-sight sailing allows for easy island hopping, with approximately an hour between locations. Each Cay in the Abaco offers great beaches, restaurants, and fishing conditions.
