Corfu Yacht Charter

In the Northern Ionian Sea, emerald waters gently caress rugged shores adorned with vineyards and olive groves, inviting exploration amidst the serene ambiance of timeless villages steeped in old-world charm.

Corfu Yacht Charter Guide

Blanketed in ancient olive groves and crowned by emerald peaks, Corfu (Kerkyra) is the sophisticated heart of the Northern Ionian. Distinct from the rest of Greece, Corfu’s identity is a refined tapestry of Venetian, French, and British heritage. From the Parisian-style arcades of the Liston to the imposing Venetian fortresses that guard the UNESCO Old Town, the island offers a cosmopolitan grandeur that is best appreciated from the teak deck of a luxury yacht.

The true allure of Corfu lies in its dramatic contrast between the rugged, limestone cliffs of the west and the gentle, cypress-fringed bays of the northeast. A private yacht charter grants you exclusive access to the "Durrell Coast," where upscale seaside tavernas and hidden coves like Agni and Kalami are only truly accessible by water. Whether you are anchoring beneath the Achilleion Palace or exploring the emerald grottoes of Paleokastritsa, the island’s crystalline waters provide a translucent playground for swimming and world-class watersports.

Chartering a private vessel from Gouvia Marina—the first privately owned marina in Greece—places you at the strategic gateway of the Ionian. A yacht rental here is more than just transport; it is your private viewing platform for the island’s architectural treasures and the turquoise channel that separates Greece from the rugged Albanian mountains. Spend your mornings navigating the gentle thermal breezes and your evenings moored beneath the Old Fortress, enjoying Michelin-standard Mediterranean cuisine as the lights of the Old Town shimmer across the water.

The Northern Collection: Venetian Elegance & Glass-Clear Waters

The Northern Ionian is where Greek island culture meets Venetian grandeur. Starting from the cosmopolitan hub of Corfu, this region is defined by its dramatic limestone cliffs, historic fortresses, and the most vibrant turquoise water in the Mediterranean. While the south is famous for its sheltered fjords, the North offers a more open, sophisticated sailing experience. From the boutique, olive-grove-drenched harbors of Paxos to the neon-blue, "glass-water" coves of Antipaxos, the Northern Ionian is the premier choice for travelers seeking a blend of high-end gastronomy, deep history, and unparalleled natural beauty.

Antipaxos Voutoumi Beach Yachting
Neon-Blue Sanctuary

Antipaxos

Whether you choose to follow the refined trail of the Greek maritime aristocracy or strike out for the wild, untouched Diapontia Islands on the edge of the Adriatic, our routes are designed to ensure you arrive at the most famous anchorages before the crowds, in true High Tide style.

Northern Ionian Charter FAQ

The channel between Corfu and the mainland offers some of the best thermal sailing in Greece. The wind is usually calm in the morning (perfect for motor-cruising) and builds into a 15-20 knot breeze by 3 PM, perfect for a spirited late-afternoon sail.

Yes. In the northern reaches near Kassiopi, the Albanian coast is less than 2 miles away. While we stay in Greek waters, the rugged mountain backdrop of the Albanian coast makes for spectacular sailing photography.

It is roughly 30 nautical miles from Corfu Town to Lakka (Paxos). On a sailing yacht, this is a beautiful 4-5 hour leg. On one of our luxury motor yachts, you can bridge the gap in under 90 minutes.

Broker Insight: The best day-trip in the Ionian.

Antipaxos has no permanent residents in winter and only a handful of families in summer who tend to the vineyards. There are no shops or banks—only a few seasonal tavernas. It is the definition of "unplugged" luxury.

Fly into Corfu International Airport (CFU). Gouvia Marina is a short 15-20 minute private transfer from the terminal. We can arrange for your driver to meet you at arrivals with a cold drink and luxury van.

Yes. There is an exclusive anchorage directly beneath the Old Fortress (Mandraki Harbor). It is one of the most dramatic spots in the Mediterranean to wake up, with the fortress walls towering over your deck.

Gaios is a "fjord" entrance and can be busy in August. Our captains are experts at stern-to mooring here. Lakka and Mongonissi are much more open and perfect for swinging on the anchor if the quay is full.

Corfu’s signature specialty. These tiny citrus fruits were brought from China by the British and only grow here. We can have your yacht provisioned with premium local Kumquat liqueur and marmalades before you arrive.

Gastronomy Highlight.

Both are excellent. Sailing yachts love the afternoon thermal winds. Motor yachts love the ability to hit Paxos, Antipaxos, and Parga in very short hops, allowing more time for dining and beach clubs.

Jellyfish are rare in the North Ionian due to the currents. The water is generally considered the cleanest and clearest in Greece, specifically around the Diapontia Islands north of Corfu.

7-Night Corfu Bareboat Yacht Charter Itinerary

Plan your Corfu Yacht Charter Trip

Situated along the western frontier of Greece, the Northern Ionian Islands represent the most verdant and sophisticated corner of the archipelago. A striking departure from the sun-bleached minimalism of the Cyclades, the North is defined by lush cypress forests, dramatic limestone sea-caves, and a vibrant turquoise water clarity that is legendary among the global yachting community. It is a region where the rugged soul of Greece meets the refined elegance of the Italian Adriatic.

The crown jewel of the North is Corfu (Kerkyra), an island of immense architectural and cultural depth. Its UNESCO World Heritage Old Town is a maze of Venetian alleyways, French-style arcades, and imposing fortresses that rank among the most beautiful in Europe. Beyond the cosmopolitan pulse of the capital, the coastline unfolds into a panorama of emerald bays and upscale retreats like Kassiopi, offering a perfect blend of high-end gastronomy and secluded anchorage.

Just a short blue-water crossing to the south lie Paxos and Antipaxos—islands that define the unhurried yachting lifestyle. Paxos is a sanctuary of ancient olive groves and boutique harbors like Lakka and Gaios, while the uninhabited Antipaxos boasts the neon-blue waters of Voutoumi Beach, often described as the most translucent in the Northern Hemisphere. Here, the "glass-water" effect is so profound that yachts appear to be suspended in mid-air.

For the discerning traveler, the Northern Ionian offers the ultimate summer refuge. Protected from the seasonal Meltemi winds that dominate the central Aegean in July and August, the North instead enjoys the predictable, thermal Maistros breeze. This ensures exhilarating afternoon sailing followed by calm, mirror-like nights at anchor. While the fleet here is boutique and highly sought-after, starting your journey from Gouvia Marina provides the perfect gateway for both the Greek mainland riviera and the Diapontia islands.

Arriving via Corfu International Airport (CFU) puts you within 15 minutes of your yacht’s gangway. While some elite vessels may relocate from Athens to the Ionian for bespoke charters, our local expertise allows us to secure the finest Ionian-based inventory, avoiding repositioning fees where possible. Whether you are planning a 7-day Venetian odyssey or an extended 10-night "Grand Tour" to Lefkas, your High Tide broker ensures an effortlessly curated transition to the Ionian’s emerald shores.
